There’s the story about the time one of Chopin’s patrons brought a young prodigy to his studio to play the piano. A virtuoso pianist as well as a renowned composer, the maestro listened attentively as the child tore through a complex, technically demanding piece.

When he was done Chopin nodded and said, “You play the notes very well. Perhaps some day you will learn to play the music.”
